Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam

Good morning everyone!
This week was definitely a little interesting between Sister Semenyuk and I.  I can happily say that, by the end of the week, we understand each other a lot better and are making each other laugh. God answers prayers for sure.

Favorite Spiritual Thought:
I enjoyed this past week's lesson in come follow me. One of the questions it asked was "What teachings do you find in John 3:1–21 that might have inspired Nicodemus to follow Jesus and be born again?" Verses 11 and 12 stood out to me. I thought it was so interesting that Jesus mentioned that they had testified of truth but that Nicodemus hadn't received it. It made me think of how we decide if we are going to share our testimonies of Christ, and the people we testify to decide if they will receive it and act on it.

Favorite Miracle:
This was just a couple of little things, but they were miracles to me. Yesterday at church, we learned who the ministering brothers are for two less-active part-member families we're trying to work with, got updated phone numbers for two more, and finally got an appointment set up with the Buss family. Two siblings who are also less active recent concerts randomly showed up to church, which was great because we got an appointment set up with them too. It was so nice to see the Lord helping us out to get these small things, which will help us immensely in the coming weeks. The Sabbath is a very wonderful day. It is a day of miracles.

Funniest Moment:
This week's funny story comes from a member couple we visited to talk about how they can share the gospel. The Sister is a convert, and before she joined the church she was a very active protestant who actually served a mission for her church and only invited the missionaries over so she could try to prove the Book of Mormon false. She eventually received an answer that it's true, and she wasn't very happy about it at first, but she joined the church and trusted God. A year or so after her baptism, she was going to school at BYU Idaho, where, in a science class, one of her teachers mentioned something to the class about learning something "when you were sunbeams." She was so confused, because she interpreted it as though the teacher meant that before the premortal life, we were beams of sunlight. She was like, "wait, we believe that?!" Apparently she prayed about it and everything, trying to understand it better, (she told us she was like, "Heavenly Father, I know Joseph Smith was a prophet, but this is weird") and when she didn't get an answer, she just got over it and decided she'd figure it out after the resurrection. Fast forward a few years to when she was married and was serving in the primary for the first time... suddenly things made a lot more sense! Thank Heavens for three year olds. ; )

Love you all!
Love,
Sister Garfield
