You Know You're a Missionary When

Hey everybody!
With it being Fathers Day on Sunday, I just wanted to tell you all how grateful I am for my dad. He's really so amazing. He is such an amazing example to me, and I have learned so much from him. It is such a blessing to have such an amazing father in my life. I know that I am so blessed.

Cool Scripture:
One I liked from this week was 3 Nephi 18:10-12. It's about the sacrament and how important it is. I like how it mentions that if we always remember Him, we will have His Spirit to be with us. It just was cool to look at it that way. I don't know if I had ever realized that that was the reason behind it before.

Spiritual stuff:
We had a super awesome lesson with the Alfarros this week. Since we've picked them all up at different times, we wanted to review the Restoration again before the first few get baptized, but we wanted to do it a little differently than usual. We decided to show the video about it. It was so amazing, guys. The movie is really good anyway, even if it's a little old, but holy crap, the Spirit was so strong. The mom, dad, and one of the brothers cried. After it ended, we asked them how it felt, and they all know that it's true. It was so cool to hear their testimonies about it. We got to testify of how we know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and that the Book of Mormon is true. And then we just told them how much we love them and how grateful we are for them, and it was just super great. I love this gospel. I love the people here. I love being a missionary. I am so blessed to have this opportunity.
We also have just had some really cool experiences with being led by the Spirit this week. We've been trying to make sure that we go where the Lord wants us to go to find the people He has prepared for us. We were looking at our map and found this one area that looked like it may have been skipped over, just based on where it's at. We decided to knock there one day, and it turned out to be a trailer park. It was actually a way nicer trailer park than usual, and for the first little while, we were really struggling with it. Hardly anyone was home, and the few that were tried to get us kicked out. ; ) So we moved to this other section of the trailer park, and the first door we knocked there turned out to be an inactive family that absolutely loves missionaries. They told us that no one from the church - missionaries, home or visiting teachers, no one - had stopped by to see them in over a year. It was really sad to hear that, except that we knew they were why we were there. We got to share a message with them, and they were just so happy. We were too. It was great. And then, the next day, we felt like we needed to go knock in this area that's a lot more Spanish than we usually pick. When we got there, we found out that the Hermanas had been there within the past week or two, and we also had knocked part of the street last transfer. But we just kept going, and near the end, we OYMed to this 15 year old named Anthony. He became a new investigator! It was so cool. I am so grateful for the Spirit and for the ability to receive revelation for our area. It's blessed us a lot this week.

Funny stuff:
You know you're a missionary when you don't have any flour, so you use pancake mix as a substitute. To make mac and cheese. ; ) It totally worked though. ; )
You also know you're a missionary when you make a map of your hometowns on the floor of your apartment so you can figure out where your companion lives because you don't have google maps. ; )

Other stuff:
Emilio got to bless the sacrament in our ward this week! It was so cool. He did a really great job, and it was just so awesome to hear him do it, because it really matters so much to him. The gospel is so awesome.

Also, after June 18th, please send any mail you want to send me to this address:
1591 E Temple Way
Los Angeles, California 90024
It would probably be helpful to put my name at the top too. ; )

I love you all and hope you have an awesome week!
Love,
Sister Garfield
