When In The Service Of Your Fellow Beings
Hello
Everybody!
I remember very little
of what happened this week. Haha. Sorry guys. ; )
Service Stuff:
My top scripture for
the week is probably Mosiah 2:17, and that's because we got to do so much
service! On Tuesday, we got to volunteer at a place called Operation Gratitude,
where we helped stuff bears that will be sent to the children of servicemen. We
helped an older lady in our ward who is moving with packing up some old
records, tapes, and CDs on Wednesday, and then on Friday, we got to help out at
the food pantry again. We finished it off on Saturday by helping hand out
waters at an emergency preparedness fair. It was so awesome to get to go
and work and help people in that way. I am so grateful that this mission allows
us to go out and serve so much! It is such an incredible way to go out and do
the Lord's work.
Favorite Spiritual
Thing:
On Saturday there was
a ward barbecue, and afterwards, we got to have a lesson with Jason. About a
week beforehand, we had asked him to pray about a date that he should be
baptized, so we followed up on that, and he had one: October 20. We
talked a lot about why baptism is important to him personally, and then we were
able to set him on date! I really hope that it happens this time. He seems so
ready, and his family is even being a lot more supportive. I hope it happens!
Other stuff:
On Sunday, Sister
Jenkins and I got to be on a panel for the combined youth fifth Sunday lesson,
where we talked about missionary work. It was a lot of fun because I've been
out about a year and Sister Jenkins is brand new, and we were joined by a
recently returned missionary and a young man who just got his mission call, so
we had all sorts of different perspectives on things. We got to answer
questions about what helped to prepare us for our missions, as well as some of
the miracles we've seen, what our hardest day was, and who has impacted us the
most from our missions. It was really cool! While answering the questions, I
couldn't help but think it was funny that I've been in my area for half of my
mission, so I had actually been around most of those people with all the
different things I told them about. Near the end, one of the leaders asked how
many of the kids were planning on serving missions, and it was so awesome to
see so many hands go up. The cooler thing though was that three of them were
some of our recent converts!
I also found out that
I may be going home with one of my very favorite Hermanas: Hermana Giles. It
has been so much fun to serve with her the past couple of transfers! In San
Fernando, she was set to go home a transfer before me because she was in the
MTC for 3 weeks longer, but it looks like she's going home in the transfer I
think I am. It's so weird to think about that though. I am so glad I still have
a good amount of time left!
I hope everyone has a
really good week! Keep trusting in the Savior. He knows the way. In fact, He is
the way. : )
Love,
Sister Garfield

We took the long way home to stop by this super fancy, semi famous bakery in North Hollywood, known as Porto's, for lunch. It was super good! |
