ONE YEAR!!

This Letter and pictures are from last week, October 22nd.....

Hello Everyone!

This week was interesting. We've been having kind of a difficult time finding people to teach lately, and a few of those we are teaching don't seem to have much real intent. But we've got a couple of really awesome recent converts that we've been working with, as well as some cool less actives and part-member families, and Jason. I'm so grateful for the people that the Lord has trusted me with! We're trying to have the Spirit with us more so we can figure out what else the Lord would have us do to accomplish His work. And we've still been seeing miracles along the way!

Favorite Scripture:
Moroni 10:23: "And Christ truly said unto our fathers: If ye have faith ye can do all things which are expedient unto me."
This week, this scripture has become Jason's favorite. He has shared it with us a bunch of times, and told our zone leaders about it on Monday when he was experiencing a pretty crazy trial. It has been so cool to see how much he's been drawing on the strength of the Savior lately. This trial has helped him to develop an incredible amount of faith, because he has to rely on Christ more than ever. He knows that he can't do this alone, and that his Heavenly Father is there to help him get through this. I know that to be true also. Jesus Christ has made it possible for us to overcome sin, death, trials, and temptations. We cannot do this without Him. But with Him, we can do all the things He has asked us to do.

Favorite Spiritual Moment:
We had zone conference this week, and I was asked to help with a special musical number (Nathan Pacheco's version of "In Christ Alone"). Usually when I do such a thing, I ask Heavenly Father to help me to invite the Spirit when I sing or play or whatever it may be that I'm doing with music. I did that this time before singing, and I am so grateful for it. It wasn't that I did such a great job or anything, because I actually didn't, but the cool thing was seeing all these missionaries in front of me with their eyes closed to just soak in the Spirit that was there because of the words I was singing about the Savior. I know that that was not because of me, but because the words I was singing are true. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world, and that he loves us. It is such a blessing to be able to share my testimony of Him with those around me.

Other Stuff:
We got to do the Book of Mormon Experiment in a park on Saturday night, and Emilio asked the zone leaders if he could come along. The zone leaders take Emilio on exchanges once a week and absolutely love him, so of course they had him come, which was awesome for the rest of us too. It was so cool to see how excited Emilio was about doing this. He was honestly showing us all up with talking to people and getting them to do the experiment. His knowledge of the scriptures and the gospel was incredible, and he did such a great job just expounding the doctrine and helping people to recognize that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. He told us that it was the hardest missionary activity he'd done yet, which is probably true, but he did a really awesome job. He even ran into a basher and just handled it so well. I am so excited for this kid to be a missionary! He's going to do such a great job.
Also, Sister Jenkins got her visa and will be heading to New Zealand next Monday. We're all going to miss her!

I hope that everyone is happy! Have a great week!
Love,
Sister Garfield
