Let The Holy Spirit Guide

Hello family, friends, and anyone else who might be reading this. ; )
How are things? This week was a pretty good one! We had a couple of days where we had three or four lessons in one day, even with us being back to just one ward. It was super awesome! We are trying to get more involved with some of the less actives in the ward, and are still hanging out with a lot of the recent converts in the ward too. It is so amazing to be able to be a part of the Lord's work!

Favorite Scripture:
I read 2 Nephi 26:12-13 earlier this week and absolutely loved it. It says:
"And as I spake concerning the convincing of the Jews, that Jesus is the very Christ, it must needs be that the Gentiles be convinced also that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God;
And that he manifesteth himself unto all those who believe in him, by the power of the Holy Ghost; yea, unto every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, working mighty miracles, signs, and wonders, among the children of men according to their faith."
It is so amazing that each of us can know for ourselves that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. We don't have to see Him to know that He is there, that He is real. What a blessing it is to have the Holy Ghost to help us to know what is true. : )

Favorite Miracle:
I went on an exchange this week with Hermana Proteau, where we were in the Spanish ward. While we were there, we OYMed to two awesome people - Cristy and Yohalmo - and were able to set up an appointment with one and got the other one's number. The coolest part about it was just that we were walking around and felt prompted to talk to them, deciding to act on those promptings on both separate occasions. Miracles followed! Following the Spirit is always a good idea. Heavenly Father knows what He is doing so much better than we could ever just guess at.
Later in the week, Sister Jenkins and I were walking back from a lesson that we'd parked quite far away from because of the lack of parking that is Los Angeles, and while we were walking, we stumbled upon a very flustered woman who turned out to be a less-active member of the church from Texas. She was so grateful to run into us when she needed help! It was cool to see that she recognized that the Lord's hand was in us running into her, even when she hadn't been to church in a while.

Favorite Fun Thing:
Most of the Alfarros were out of town this weekend except for Kelley, Jason, and Brian. They still wanted to come to conference, so on Sunday, we got them a ride and planned to have them stay between the sessions. We didn't want anyone to starve though, so we made lunch! It was really funny when Sister Jenkins and I decided to do it, because we went through the cupboards trying to find anything we had enough of to feed four or five people. We ended up going with pasta with a little bit of chicken and some tomato sauce. It was a lot of fun to get to serve them in that way, to take care of them while their family was gone and just hang out with them for a little bit. And the food turned out to be super good too!

Other Stuff:
I just want to say that I know the Word of Wisdom is revelation straight from God. He knows us so much better than we know ourselves. He created us, and because of it, He knows exactly what should and should not go into our bodies. If any of you are struggling to live the Word of Wisdom, I encourage you to keep living it. I have seen so many sad examples of what happens when people don't out here on my mission. But more than that, I have also seen so many blessings. The Lord is there to help us, and He doesn't give us commandments we can't accomplish.

I hope everybody has a good week!
Love,
Sister Garfield

Sister Jenkins doesn't like elevators. ; )

But she does like heights!

We hiked that awesome pile of rocks in Chatsworth again. And it was awesome.

Sister Pinter came with us on our adventure this morning

We made it to the top!

The rest of these pictures didn't have titles but it looks like it was part of their hike...
