Baptisms done with a Persian Accent

Hello everyone!
Sitting down right now, I can't even remember any of the things I wanted to talk about in this email. Sorry guys. This might be a little scatter-brained. We had a really good week though! Lots of teaching. We are so blessed.

Favorite Spiritual Moment:
On Saturday, we got to take a couple of recent converts in the YSA ward to do temple baptisms! There were two recent converts, Ramin and Qaseem, and a friend of theirs from the ward, Nancy, came too. It was super cool! Qaseem had never been to the temple before, and Ramin had only been once. They both got to be baptized, and also got to baptize for their first times. They both did a really great job! It was so cool to get to see them in the temple and to feel the Spirit there. As you may have guessed from their names, both Ramin and Qaseem were not exactly Christian before they were baptized; one of Qaseem's parents were Muslim, even though Qaseem himself didn't really practice it, and Ramin is straight from Iran. It was so amazing to see them in the font, knowing where they came from and what they've been through in order to receive the gospel and to know that this really is for everyone. I just kept thinking about how cool it will be when they get to baptize their kids someday. We also ran into an Elder from the San Fernando mission who ended up in Bakersfield, so that was kind of fun. It took me way to long to figure out that we're not in the same mission anymore, haha.
We also had a really good lesson with this Jewish kid named Coby. He loved the Restoration! Hearing Joseph Smith's story helped him to open up to us about a lot of things. He basically already believes this church is where he needs to be. It's so cool!

Favorite Fun Things:
I found out a few weeks ago that Sister Jarvis has never been to Taco Bell. I happen to have pretty much grown up on Taco Bell, so that was a pretty shocking thing to hear. Ever since I found out, it has been a goal of mine to get Sister Jarvis to Taco Bell. Well, Saturday was the day! Sister Jarvis had Taco Bell for the first time in her life, and she liked it. Apparently I like Taco Bell a little too much though, because I could tell her about pretty much every option on the menu, haha.

I hope everybody has a super great week! Stay happy!
Love,
Sister Garfield

This is a little crooked... Sorry

Sister Picture! Sister Wood, Sister Pinter, Hermana Proteau, Hermana Giles, Sister Jarvis, and me.

For the FHE activity in YSA, there was a game night at the Institute Building. Jason came too! We played a game of pool.

And I won. ; )

Jason taking a shot.

A view of the valley from the top of our area.

Us before a dinner appointment in this random trailer park at the top of a mountain.

YSAs. ; )

Temple Baptism trip!

Sister Jarvis' first ever Taco Bell experience

Mission accomplished!

And she even liked it. ; )

Same day, but at the visitor's center. Matt, Ramin, Qaseem, Nancy, Sister Jarvis, and me.

Qaseem being Qaseem.

Trying a pretty fancy maneuver to get out of the parking space. (That's not even the closest I got, haha)

For whatever reason, every time we have district council, we always end up with a bunch of random food. So this is us being missionaries and eating a lot.

Us with this really cool deaf member of our ward, Jade.

More taco bell.
