No title, just lots of pictures instead!
Hey everybody!
This week was a little
weird. We just ended up doing different things than usual, still
missionary-work related, but just different. We are working on trying some new
finding activities, since knocking hasn't been working lately. Any ideas would
be much appreciated!
Favorite Miracle:
Last Sunday, the young
women were combined with the relief society, and one of the young women leaders
mentioned a few young women (not present) who were struggling. We decided to
reach out to those girls and see if there's anything we can do to help them.
There are these twins who live at the top of our area that we'd never met, so
we planned to stop by them right after a lesson we had up there, but then the lesson
fell through. We're a little low on miles right now, but we decided to still go
up there. When we got there, the girls weren't home, but the mom was. She has
been renovating her house, pretty much by herself, so she can sell it and move
to Virginia. She's been so busy that she hasn't made it to church, and she was
just a little stressed. But when we stopped by, we offered to help in any way
we could, and she just seemed so grateful. It looks like we may be helping put
in some floors this week! ; ) It was really cool; she told us that she hadn't
prayed in a while, but she had today, and we showed up just a few hours later.
I'm really glad we decided to stop by.
Favorite funny thing:
We walked into the gym
one morning this week and saw that some guy was in there watching Tom and
Jerry. Not that we were deliberately trying to watch the episode, but the
treadmill faces the TV, so we picked up some of it. The episode had something
to do with Tom singing opera. So Sister Trujillo and I worked out to fancy Italian
music this week. ; ) We just looked at each other, looked at the guy watching
Tom and Jerry, and just laughed. There wasn't much else we could do. ; )
Other stuff:
Our zone had two
baptisms this week: one for this old man who is doesn't have any teeth, in the
Spanish ward, and another of this kid who's like 9 or 10, who got to get
baptized on the same day as his little brother. It was just really sweet to see
these people as their lives were changed. The gospel really is for everyone,
old and young. : )
I just want to let you
all know that promptings of the Spirit are real things! Pay attention for them.
They make a huge difference. Sister Trujillo and I have been trying to
recognize them better this week, and we saw some cool miracles because of it!
I hope you all have a
great week!
Love,
Sister Garfield
PS. I know I didn't
put captions on any of the pictures this week, but that's just because there
were a lot of them. The sandwiches were from a Sister's activity on P-day where
we all got together to celebrate Bastille Day a couple days late. They took forever
to make, but they were so good! The pictures of the building with the cool
architecture are from this Hindi temple we went to visit afterwards. In Elder
Kerr's words, "The LA temple is closed, so we found another one to
visit." ; )
