The Golden Investigator

With Sister Henrie

Hey everybody!
Happy Mothers Day to all of you remarkable women! And happy birthday to my dad on Thursday!
Favorite Scripture:
One of the zones we're working with right now is kind of in need of a bit of an attitude adjustment. We're not sure how to fix that, but Sister Trujillo and I have been looking at scriptures and PMG to try to find something we can train on that might help the missionaries to realize how important this is, and that they need to take it seriously. I was looking in the topical guide for scriptures on gladness, and found DC 128: 19, 22-23. I just really loved the imagery and the message it has to share. This work is God's work, and it is joyful. It is such a great cause that all of nature has reason to rejoice. And I get to be a part of this. But so do each of you. We all have a part in God's plan. We all have work to do. I am so grateful for the chance I have to be able to serve the Lord at this time. This mission is so short, and every second of it is so valuable. We still aren't sure how to help a few of these missionaries to see that, but I know that it's true. I am so grateful that the Lord has trusted me to do this.
Favorite Miracle:
We are teaching a family of eleven, and this week, we were able to get nine of them to church! Four of them are investigators, and the dad is a member, but it was so good to get to see and meet the other members of the family this week. It was so cool to see them all sitting together. They took up a whole middle row! I know that this gospel truly brings family together, and allows us all to be with our families forever.
Favorite new thing:
I got to try cactus this week! It was in this really good pico de gallo. I would recommend it. ; )
Other stuff:
Another fun thing about church this week was that one of our golden investigators, Emilio, actually gave a talk! We're not sure whether or not that is technically allowed, but our bishop liked the idea and it made it so we got to meet Emilio's mom! He did a really great job. It is super cool to have investigators who are so prepared, whose testimonies are so strong and who have such an incredible desire to learn. They are just so grateful for the gospel. We can't wait for him to get baptized in a couple of weeks!
Also, instead of having P-day on the Monday that is Memorial Day, our P-day is going to be moved to Tuesday that week. Just so you all know ahead of time.
I hope you all are smiling today. : )
Love,
Sister Garfield

The view from one of the referrals we tried to stop by

Sister Trujillo trying to get me to give into peer pressure ; )

view, part 2

how the Elders got permission from President to do this for zone activity is beyond me. ; )

Apparently they needed a video game fix. ; )
