The Power of the Spirit

Hey guys.  : )
Favorite Miracle:
I didn't know what else to call this other than a miracle, but it was pretty much all week long, and it was so amazing.
We were on exchanges near the beginning of the week, and Hermana Vincent (one of our STLs) and I got a phone call from the bishop. He told us that there was an inactive sister in the ward who had called him and asked us to come over. We stopped by just a little bit later and got to meet her. Her name is Monse, and she has five kids between the ages of 15 and 3. She told us that she was a convert in about 2005 and was active for a few years until everything just fell apart. Now there's just so many things going wrong in her life, and she's having a lot of trials, so she starting reaching out to the Lord for help, and the answer she got is that she needs to go back to church. With her five kids, none of whom have ever been baptized. She's had us come almost every single night since to read scriptures with her and to go through the lessons. We got them a ride for church and they were all able to come. At the beginning, her oldest kids told us that they didn't even know if they believed in God, but last night they told us that they really have been feeling a difference, that they know God is there, and that praying has been a huge blessing for their family. Every single one of them has had their countenance changed. It is truly so amazing to see and to get to be a part of. We are hoping to have them on date for baptism tonight!
Favorite Funny Moment:
There's two this week. ; )
So. Sister Reynolds and I switched the designated driver over to me a few weeks ago so that I could get some experience driving in California while I was still in training. It's been good, even though California drivers are crazy. Now to the story: the key to our car is one that you push the button and the key pops out, kind of like a switchblade. I really like pushing the button, and every time I do, I say "whatcha!" almost involuntarily. It also has a clicker to unlock the car from a distance. But anyway, I was going to unlock the door, Not the car, and pulled out the car key, said "whatcha!" and pushed the unlock button all at the same time. To unlock the door. We had to go back around the corner to lock the car again and everything. I think I got a little too excited. ; )
Our investigator Josue works at the mall, next to where we often do the Book of Mormon Experiment or a regular mall booth. We were there this weekend and wanted to talk to him to try to get an appointment set up. But right as we were getting done with our shift at the booth, there was this girl that went up to talk to him. We thought it was no big deal and went to go sit in the food court for a couple of minutes of our dinner hour to wait until they were done talking. But then, 45 freaking minutes later, they were still talking! They were totally flirting, and it was just really annoying because we just wanted a dang lesson appointment with the guy. We finally had to just leave, but it was just funny because there were a lot of people that gave us weird looks as we were staring intently at this random cellphone booth employee. It was dumb. ; )
Have a great week y'all!
Love,
Sister Garfield

Also...  Transfers are this week and Jessica is staying in Newhall.  She will really miss Sister Reynolds who is getting transferred to Tarzana.  Jessica will now be serving in a trio!  What a fun new adventure!  I'm sure we will hear more about it next week.

Valencia Zone picture. I promise Sister Reynolds and I weren't photoshopped in, even though it kind of looks like that for some reason. ; )

our weird district leader

apparently the lighting in the laundromat really sucks. ; )

Newhall is going to be a trio area! What the...? ; ) Because of it, Sister Reynolds and I are getting a third bed today, so we moved one of ours on top of the other in anticipation of it. It's going to be a little tight, but it should work.

Um... this is my "I forgot to take pictures this week" face. Sorry guys. ; )
