Hey everybody!

Favorite Spiritual Moment:

I've got two this week, both focused around the Book of Mormon!

We were knocking yesterday and the guy that opened one of the doors had obviously been woken up from us ringing his doorbell. We felt bad about waking him up, but went on to the message. He told us that he was Christian but didn't go to church because every church seems to interpret the Bible differently, and as a result, has a different view of God. So we told him about the Book of Mormon! We talked about how the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, and how having that second witness helps us to understand God's word and His will for us. I thought about that visual with the two dots and the line from a conference a few years ago, with one dot representing the Bible and the other representing the Book of Mormon. We told him more about it and when we asked him if he would read it, he responded by saying, "Well, you've given me a whole lot of good reasons to!" We were super excited, because what we had shared with him seemed to answer a lot of his questions. It was super cool.

But even cooler was our experience with Josue, who we met at the Book of Mormon Experiment last week! While we were doing the BoME in the mall, he was working in a cell-phone booth next to us and came over when he was bored to see what we were doing. He agreed to participate. We didn't get to talk to him much when he was done because he was technically still working, but he recognized that it seemed like scripture and was curious to know more since he hadn't recognized the book it was from, Ether. He gave us his number though, and we had our first lesson with him last night! We actually had to meet him in the mall, which was kind of funny on a Sunday, but it turned out to be a super amazing lesson. He is from Venezuela, so when we told him that the Book of Mormon is a record from prophets in ancient America, he was super intrigued. He had so many good questions! It was so cool to get to talk with someone who is so elect and so prepared. We talked a ton about the Book of Mormon and the Restoration, and some of his questions even led into the Plan of Salvation and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We're super excited about this guy. When we asked him if he would be baptized, he didn't think he was ready yet, but agreed to pray about it while he also reads the Book of Mormon and prays to know if it's true. Yay! It was super awesome. I love the Book of Mormon!!!!

Favorite Funny Moment:

This wasn't actually that hilarious of a thing, but more of a funny situation. For ward correlation in the YSA ward, we meet at the ward mission leader's house. This week, his mom and sisters weren't home, so we had to meet outside. We've done that before, so it wouldn't have been a big deal, except this week, we were meeting at 8:30 at night, it was windy, and the temperature was in the 40s. It was freaking cold for California! So the ward mission leader brought out blankets and chairs, and we were all sitting in a circle bundled up, talking about the needs of the ward. It was like we were having a marshmallow roast. ; ) And the Elders were really funny about it, wrapping the blankets around their heads and stuff because they were so cold. ; )

Other stuff:

Transfers are next Tuesday! Stay tuned for some new adventures...

Love you all!
Love,

Sister Garfield
Us at the Book of Mormon Experiment last week!

So, Chris is a recent convert in our ward. He's about 50, so there's no reason for concern. ; ) But he's a really good guy and we thought these texts from him were both funny and nice.

So, we decided to have a cartwheeling contest between the Sisters last week before the Elders came in...

"If anyone asks, we were breakdancing!" ; )

Fancy Peruvian chocolates from the Hermanas

Ah, Californians. Too good to even pick up their own dog's crap. ; )

Seriously though. They're not even the same company. ; )
