Innocent No More

Hey everybody!

Sorry that I apparently struggle to get all of my emails out. Who knew two hours was so short? 
Favorite Spiritual Moments:
We got to eat dinner with a family this week who has really been through a lot. The husband has struggled with the word of wisdom, but has been sober for something like nine years. It was really amazing to get to hear their testimonies, especially since they've been through so many things that our investigators go through too. I know that the Lord is always with us, but especially through trials.

Favorite Quotes:
"The people you pray for are the people you live for, and the people you live for are the people you love." This was actually from when I was still in the MTC (whoops), but I thought it was really cool to think about. It is really wonderful to hear from you all saying that you are praying for me. I really appreciate that, and I know I have been strengthened by those prayers. I pray for you all too, and I love you guys.
I can't quote this next one exactly since I wasn't actually part of the conversation, but we have an investigator who is really getting excited for his baptism, but he and his fiance have been coming across a lot of trials lately. Sister Reynolds said to the fiance something like "Wow, Satan is really trying to get you guys." to which Naomi responded, "yes, but at least he's being too obvious about it." Sometimes we really have hard things in life, but as long as we remember that those are coming from Satan because we're doing what God wants us to, I think we can actually take courage at those things. I am really grateful for the knowledge I have that I am doing what the Lord wants me to be doing right now. There may be trials, there may be temptations, and there may be bumps in the road, but we will always be going in the right direction as long as we're focused on Christ. Plus, sometimes it's kind of fun to just spite Satan if he's going to throw those things at us anyway. ; )

Favorite Funny Moments:
Okay, so before I tell you all this, there are a few things you should know. Firstly, I am from Utah, the capital of Mormonville. California is a very different place than where I grew up. Secondly, I was really hungry when this happened, so I would have said this about pretty much anything. And thirdly, having encountered this smell since, I have not thought the same thing since I was not as starving. So, that being said, I had a funny experience with Sister Reynolds this week. We were knocking some doors in some apartments, and it was time for lunch, so again, I was hungry. I also was really tired because I am a missionary. So I smelled something coming from one of the apartments and just absent-mindedly commented, "It smells like food." Sister Reynolds got this really funny look on her face, turned to me, and said, "That's weed." So that happened! I am no longer as innocent as I once was. ; ) But, we laughed really hard about it all week, so it turned out to be alright. 

Other stuff:
I don't know if this was mentioned, but my companion and I have both had spinal fusion. How weird is that? But it has really been a blessing, since I can learn from her example. What a similarity!

Hey everybody! With it being Fathers Day on Sunday, I just wanted to tell you all how grateful I am for my dad. He's really so amazing. He is such an amazing example to me, and I have learned so much from him. It is such a blessing to have such an amazing father in my life. I know that I am so blessed. Cool Scripture: One I liked from this week was 3 Nephi 18:10-12. It's about the sacrament and how important it is. I like how it mentions that if we always remember Him, we will have His Spirit to be with us. It just was cool to look at it that way. Hey guys! Favorite quote/scripture: DC 64: 33-34. I don't have time to type it out, so go look it up. I like how it talks about this work. I want to give my whole soul to the Lord as I go about doing His work. This is important. I want to make sure that I give my all. Favorite funny moment: So this wasn't like a laugh out loud moment or anything, but more of just a cool thing. We had a two week training follow up for all of the trainees and their trainers last Tuesday. One of the missionaries that came in with Sister O'Bourke is from Thailand. I'm not even going to guess at how to spell her name. She's still learning English, but she's been doing really good. Now that it wasn't her first day, I introduced myself again. Normally when I tell people my name, if they say it back to me to make sure that it's right, I say something like "yep, like the cat." She sounded it out to make sure she was saying it right, and I told her she got ...

Hey everyone! I hope you all are doing well! Thank you for your prayers and your support; I am so grateful for all of you! Here's this week's favorites: Favorite Quote: Jacob 4: 11-12. This one is too long for me to take the time to type out, so you all have to go look it up. I came across this scripture during personal study the other day and seriously had this "have I ever read this before in my life" moment because it was so good. The line that I do really love that I will type out is "for why not speak of the atonement of Christ." The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the greatest gift anyone could ever give, and our Heavenly Father gave it to us because He love us more than we can even begin to comprehend. He sent His son, because He wants us to be able to return home to Him. We have this amazing, wonderful blessing of a gift in our lives, and we are blessed to know about it.
