When In The Service Of Your Fellow Beings

Image
Hello Everybody! I remember very little of what happened this week. Haha. Sorry guys. ; ) Service Stuff: My top scripture for the week is probably Mosiah 2:17, and that's because we got to do so much service! On Tuesday, we got to volunteer at a place called Operation Gratitude, where we helped stuff bears that will be sent to the children of servicemen. We helped an older lady in our ward who is moving with packing up some old records, tapes, and CDs on Wednesday, and then on Friday, we got to help out at the food pantry again. We finished it off on Saturday by helping hand out waters at an emergency preparedness fair.  It was so awesome to get to go and work and help people in that way. I am so grateful that this mission allows us to go out and serve so much! It is such an incredible way to go out and do the Lord's work. Favorite Spiritual Thing: On Saturday there was a ward barbecue, and afterwards, we got to have a lesson with Jason. About a week beforehand,...

The Still, Small Voice

Hey all of you. ; ) Transfers just happened, and I am still in West Hills. I am training a new Sisters, Sister Jenkins, this transfer, until she gets her visa. She is going to New Zealand! Happiest Moment: We got a text right around 6:30 yesterday morning from our good friend Jason. Jason has been struggling for the past month or so, but this past week, we were able to get in contact with him and had a couple of really good lessons. We were able to have some really good lessons on repentance and the Atonement of Jesus Christ. It was amazing to see the change of heart he has seemed to have experienced. He seems different this time. He wants to be accountable and do this the right way, which is so amazing. Earlier in the week, we gave him a calendar and told him to write "C,P,R" every day that he was clean, had prayed, and read his scriptures. Well, the text Jason sent us at 6:30 yesterday morning was a picture of his calendar. He had a "C" written on every ...

"My Brain Itches"

Hello Everybody! This week we were a little stressed, haha. It was nothing too major, but there were definitely a few things that happened that were beyond what the MTC and Preach My Gospel can prepare you for. We had a lot of problems to solve, so during multiple points of the week, both of us ended up with big headaches. During one of those points, I was tired and also driving, so I wasn't thinking very straight anyway, so I accidentally told Sister Jarvis that my brain was itchy. Looking back at it now, it actually might have been a pretty true statement! We were just thinking too hard, I guess. ; ) The week really was good though. We saw a lot of miracles, that's for sure. I also want to just say that I am so grateful for the Word of Wisdom! I can promise you that I know it comes from God. There are a lot of people we're working with who are really struggling with the Word of Wisdom right now, and it just hurts my heart to see how hard it is for them to overcom...

Baptisms done with a Persian Accent

Hello everyone!   Sitting down right now, I can't even remember any of the things I wanted to talk about in this email. Sorry guys. This might be a little scatter-brained. We had a really good week though! Lots of teaching. We are so blessed. Favorite Spiritual Moment: On Saturday, we got to take a couple of recent converts in the YSA ward to do temple baptisms! There were two recent converts, Ramin and Qaseem, and a friend of theirs from the ward, Nancy, came too. It was super cool! Qaseem had never been to the temple before, and Ramin had only been once. They both got to be baptized, and also got to baptize for their first times. They both did a really great job! It was so cool to get to see them in the temple and to feel the Spirit there. As you may have guessed from their names, both Ramin and Qaseem were not exactly Christian before they were baptized; one of Qaseem's parents were Muslim, even though Qaseem himself didn't really practice it, and Ramin is stra...

A Mighty Change of Heart

Hey everybody! I hope that you all have had a good week! Ours wasn't too out of the ordinary, but it was still a pretty good one.  Favorite Spiritual Moment: For this person's privacy, I'm not going to say exactly who this was, but one of our recent converts broke down in front of us the other day because she's really struggling with a member of her family who she just wants to help, but she doesn't know what to do. Now, that sounds really depressing, and we did what we could to help her figure out the situation, but the cool part was how much light she had with her throughout this whole experience. When she was telling us about what was going on, it was really interesting, because we could just see her soul aching for this family member, because she knows how much the gospel has blessed her and helped her with the same problem the family member is going through, and she just wants to help them to have the same blessings. I thought back to when I first met...
